Biden brushes BUG off meteorologist's chest and discusses global warming in Weather Channel...
Bug off! President used the long arm of executive power to brush an insect off his questioner during a Weather Channel interview on the edge of the Grand Canyon. Biden made the gesture in an interview where he got pressed on his actions to combat by meteorologist Stephanie Abrams. 'You've got a bug on you,' Biden told her, shooing the insect away from her chest and shoulder in mid-interview. 'Thanks. Appreciate it,' Abrams told him, as with her questions. Abrams pushed Biden on why he had not yet declared a 'national emergency' with respect to climate change, something some Democrats in Congress want him to do. 'Already done that,' he told her. 'Nationally, we've conserved more land, we've moved in to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord. We've passed the $360 billion climate control facility. We're moving. It is the existential threat.' 'So you've already declared that a national emergency?' Abrams questioned him. 'Well, practically speaking. Yes,' Biden replied. The Weather Channel later said on air that Biden had not in fact declared such an emergency. He got the pushback despite being for granting the interview in the first place. The insect encroachment was a return to form for Biden, who early in his 2016 campaign was forced to apologize for some of his gestures that women said made them uncomfortable. It came on a trip where Biden announced he'd used executive authority to designate a , granting a push by Native American tribes. If it isn't overturned, the designation would preserve about 1,562 square miles of land on either side of Grand Canyon National Park, an area that supports wildlife and a variety of plants including rare cactus. Biden made an odd comment Tuesday gushing about the Grand Canyon and calling it one of the 'nine wonders of the world.' He soon corrected himself and said it was one of the seven wonders, although the reality is a bit more complicated. It has been included on lists of seven natural wonders of the world. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs on Tuesday said the Grand Canyon 'is known as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, but we know it for so much more.' 'There's no national treasure, none, that is grander than the Grand Canyon,' the president said. Biden took heat from his critics for granting a rare one-on-one interview to the Weather Channel, at a time when the scandal is simmering. Republicans in Congress want to probe the plea deal he worked out with prosecutors that blew up in court last month. The interview comes days after Hunter's friend and former business partner Devon Archer testified during a closed-door testimony that the elder Biden, 80, would often . He insisted, however, that it was mostly casual conversation about things like the weather. Biden also used Tuesday's event to tear into 'MAGA extremists' for opposing the Inflation Reduction Act. 'Folks, these are investments in our planet, our people, in America itself: protecting our outdoor treasures, making our nation more resilient,' he said. 'But some MAGA extremists in Congress are trying to undo it all. I didnt get any help from the guys on the other team. Every single, solitary person voted against this historic clean energy investment. 'And now many of them are trying again to repeal these parts of the bills, but we wont let them. Theres too much at stake.'
