VP emphasizes climate cooperation with Kerry
Vice-President Han Zheng stressed Beijing's readiness to find common ground with Washington on the basis of respecting core concerns and conducting adequate dialogue and exchanges to ensure the implementation of the Paris Agreement and responding to climate change. During a meeting in Beijing with John Kerry, the US special presidential envoy for climate, on Wednesday, Han underlined the response to climate change as an important aspect of bilateral cooperation, while calling upon both sides to create a sound atmosphere for exchanges and cooperation in various sectors. He reiterated that China, as a responsible country, will pursue a new development philosophy and actively respond to climate change in line with requirements for high-quality development. Kerry highlighted the joint efforts from the world's two largest economies on climate, saying Washington is willing to conduct high-level cooperation with China to work toward positive outcomes in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai.
