PM has ‘no credibility’ on climate change
The Australia Institutes Ebony Bennett says the Coalition has an abysmal record on climate change, as industries and towns have been wiped out as a result of bushfires accelerated by the mining and burning of fossil fuels. On Sunday, the prime minister announced he would put a proposal for a royal commission into the bushfire crisis to Cabinet as he seeks to quell community anxiety around climate change and the government's emissions reduction target. Ms Bennett said the prime minister is reliant on an accounting trick to meet and beat out targets. Ms Bennett told Sky News it is not credible for the prime minister to make the claim Australia will meet the targets set by the Paris climate accord and not back it up by lifting our ambition.
