House Republicans have unveiled a bold plan to fight climate change by harnessing the power of trees to siphon carbon from the air rather than depending on emissions slashing. Republican Bruce Westerman, who introduced the Trillion Trees Act, said Im proposing that we lead the world in planting 1 trillion trees globally by 2050. This idea stems from a 2019 Swiss report featured by the American Academy of the Advancement of Science that estimated planting 1 trillion trees could sequester 205 gigatonnes of carbon worldwide. Thats the equivalent of two-thirds of all man-made carbon since the Industrial Revolution. Image: Getty Read More Our Apps
