Liberal Sydney Councillor Craig Chung has accused Lord Mayor Clover Moore of railroading her colleagues into voting for an extremist and alarmist climate change motion. On Monday, the Sydney City Council officially declared a climate emergency, claiming that successive federal governments have not adequately dealt with climate change. The motion, which warned that Sydneysiders will be at risk due to climate change, also called for the reintroduction of a price on carbon. Mr Chung ultimately voted in favour of the measure, after failing to move a series of amendments to water down the motions crazy rhetoric.
