Australia is ‘giving up fighting climate change’ with ‘terrible’ emissions goals: Bandt
Greens Leader Adam Bandt says when it comes to trying to achieve zero net emissions, the focus needs to be on what Australia is going to do by 2030. He called Liberals' 2050 net zero emissions target terrible and said the 2030 interim target to half current emissions will only require more work. "Youre making people in the 2030s and 2040s do three times as much as the people in this decade now," he told Sky News. "Youre pushing the burden onto our kids and youre ignoring it completely." Mr Bandt said Australia was being left behind by the nations who attended the G7 Summit and said Australia needs to more than double emissions cuts to compensate. We need to more than double our cuts on 2005 levels by 2030, if we dont, were giving up on the fight against climate change." That was the purpose of the climate meeting hosted by (President Joe) Biden, the purpose of the G7, it is what is going to come up at the end of this year." Read More Our Apps
