Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese wants to buy into the politics of bipartisanship and will frame the climate change debate in the context of the recession and COVID-19 according to the Editor-at-Large at the Australian Paul Kelly. "At the state of the year we thought the bushfires would define the climate change debate," Mr Kelly told Sky News host Peta Credlin. However, he said it became clear from Mr Albanese's National Press Club speech on Wednesday that his intention is to frame the debate on the pandemic and the recession. In a step towards bipartisanship, Mr Albanese has moved to abandon the National Energy Guarantee and Clean Energy Target. Mr Albanese has endorsed Prime Minister Scott Morrisons energy policy but warned any new government plans will need to accommodate higher emissions reduction targets. "Potentially whats happened here is hes seen Scott Morrison use the politics of cooperation in managing the virus," Mr Kelly said. "Albanese wants to buy into the politics of cooperation or what he calls the politics of bipartisanship". Image: News Corp Australia Read More Our Apps
