Labor’s lack of a climate change policy is ‘a bit rich’

Labor frontbencher Jason Clare has refused to be drawn on when Labor would release a climate change policy. In an interview with Sky News host Laura Jayes this morning Mr Clare said well take a strong policy of climate change action to the next election but would not answer questions about specific timing. Ms Jayes said the lack of detail about Labors climate goals was a bit rich when the party was asking the Coalition to do more. It is a bit rich at the moment for you to be calling on the government to do more when the general public does not know what Labors goal is, Ms Jayes said. Mr Clare said his party took the issue seriously and said the criticism was not fair. I dont know if that is fair Laura, we lost the last election, he said. So - you lose an election your job is to hold the government to account and to keep them honest.
