Brazil Has 849 Deaths from Coronavirus in 24 hours, Reveals Consortium of Press Vehicles; Are 37,312 in Total
Brazil recorded 849 new deaths and 19,631 new cases of Covid-19 this Monday (8). In all, 37,312 Brazilians lost their lives to the disease and 710,887 were infected. The publications collect the information from the Health Departments, and the balance sheet will be closed at 8:00 pm each day. The initiative is a response to recent attitudes by the Jair Bolsonaro government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins, withdrew information from the air, stopped disclosing case and death totals, and released conflicting data. The figures counted by the consortium of press vehicles differ from what was released by the Ministry of Health, which registered 679 new deaths and 15,654 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. Brazil is the third country with the most deaths from the disease and has registered daily records of deaths in the last week. Covid-19 kills more than one Brazilian per minute and causes more victims than heart disease, cancer, traffic accidents, and homicides
