Extinction Rebellion Protesters: Topless women lock themselves to UK Parliament to protest against climate change
British police have arrested dozens of semi-naked women in central London as they protested demanding action against climate change. Extinction Rebellion (XR) protesters locked themselves outside Britain's Houses of Parliament on Thursday morning wearing just trousers and face masks branded with '4C'. The topless women carried a large banner reading 'Can't Bare the Truth?' in a bid to expose the bare truth about climate change. Some of the women used metal D-locks used to lock bicycles around their necks and had words painted on their chest representing the consequences of global warming such as war, drought, starvation, wildfires, violence and famine. On Thursday, XR tweeted in response to their protest: 'We are in a #ClimateEmergency. We face a 4C increase in temperature in the lifetime of this child. 4C = the death of millions. #WeWantToLive.' The activist group restarted its protests in the UK last week following a suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Saturday, XR protesters blocked roads leading to two printworks used by News publishers - drawing criticism from Prime Minister Boris Johnson. "A free press is vital in holding the government and other powerful institutions to account on issues critical for the future of our country, including the fight against climate change," he tweeted. "It is completely unacceptable to seek to limit the public's access to news this way."
