Expert advocates circular economy as solution to climate crisis
A popular waste recycling advocate, Jumoke Olowokere, has prescribed a circular economy as part of the solutions to the climate crisis in Nigeria and globally. A circular economy, according to her, is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. Olowokere from the Waste Museum in Ibadan while speaking with journalists after an Entrepreneurship Training Programme for 100-Level students at Osun State University, themed Unlock Your Potential at the institutions auditorium in Osogbo. Speaking further, Olowokere said the circular economy, if implemented, would exclude waste as part of pollution. Circular economy is the solution to the climate crisis in Nigeria and globally. If we can do this, there will be a world of zero waste, waste will not be part of pollution again. And that is the action that we can take. The Director of Entrepreneur in UNIOSUN, Dr Adepeju Adigun while speaking on the basis of the program to encourage students to ready their minds on entrepreneurship and needs to be creative and not having a 100 percent white-collar job mind. In her words, The basis of the program is to encourage our students not to have 100 percent white-collar job mind but to be able to have mind of bringing themselves forward without relying on anybody, to be entrepreneur and to be creative so at the end, the focus of the university is for then to be issued to different certificates after graduation, one for professional Courses and second for entrepreneurs.
