Te Papa lights up for Matariki
For the third straight year, Te Papa celebrated Matariki with a huge projected light display. The projection, designed by actor and creator Toa Waaka, told the story of Chief Toa-Rangatira, from whom Waaka is descended. Toa-Rangatira stayed behind to plant a kumara garden while the warriors went away to war, and was able to feed the whole village when they returned. The projection was the largest Matariki display yet for Te Papa.
