Brazil Joins India, China and South Africa to Defend Financing from Climate
To prepare for the Climate Summit, Brazil met on April 8 with China, India and South Africa to advocate that rich countries finance projects against global warming. At the meeting, a conference of Environment ministers from the Basic forum, which brings together the four countries, the Brazilian government helped to draw up a declaration to mark a joint position on climate change. Linking with recently industrialized nations was considered fundamental for the government of President Jair Bolsonaro, seen in the United States and Europe as the environmental villain of today. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been preparing for a difficult summit and feared that the countrybefore an international reference in international preservation initiativeswould be isolated.
